EPGY Summer Institutes students have full and busy daily schedules. The typical weekday routine for EPGY begins with breakfast in a Stanford dining hall, followed by morning classes. The courses are taught in Stanford classrooms or in EPGY computer labs, and are followed by lunch. The students then return for a study, workshop, or lab session which is typically held in their residences. These sessions usually consist of one-on-one conferences, small group discussion sessions, projects, labs, or independent work. The late afternoon is filled with a variety of activities, which allow students to get to know other EPGY students outside of their residence and course. After dinner, there is another opportunity for continued work on course assignments followed by evening events. These vary from camp-wide activities, like the EPGY Talent Show, to free time to practice music or write home, to supervised excursions into downtown Palo Alto. Field trips to exciting cultural and natural attractions are scheduled for Saturdays, and Sundays have open-ended free time as well as an offering of enjoyable activities. Students are required to be in their residences at the scheduled curfew time, and in their beds for lights-out, in order to get enough rest for the next busy EPGY day.

The daily schedule for Summer Institutes Middle School Program students is a busy one. The day begins with breakfast in the dining hall. Mornings and early afternoons include instructional periods that are a combination of class time, small group discussion sessions, labs, individual study and one-on-one conferences. In the late afternoon, students choose from a wide selection of activities, ranging from sports and games to art and music. After dinner, the students can continue with their course work, relax, or engage in activities organized by the residential staff. Some evenings may include a movie, a talent show, or a dance. Each session includes one off-campus excursion to local points of cultural, historic, recreational and/or scenic interest in the San Francisco Bay Area. There may also be excursions to downtown Palo Alto or the Stanford Shopping Center. All activities are supervised by the residential staff.
