The EPGY Summer Institutes at Stanford University are three-week residential summer programs for students ages 13 through 17. These programs allow students to join peers who share their abilities and interests in an academic and social environment conducive to intellectual stimulation and development.
The program is designed for highly motivated students who want to enrich and accelerate their academic pursuits. Students will explore the subject areas in depth, and they will be presented with challenging material beyond what is typically offered in middle school and high school. The instruction will be geared to account for students’ individual differences, so that each student receives the optimal learning experience.
The Summer Institutes are self-contained courses that can be taken independently of the ordinary EPGY computer-based courses. (For a list of these distance-learning courses, which are available year round, see the Course Catalog)

"The teacher is the most intelligent I've ever worked with." |
The EPGY Summer Institutes are instructed by highly qualified members of the EPGY instructional staff, who are experts in the subject areas that they are teaching. The regular instruction is supplemented with guest lectures presented by Stanford faculty and other expert speakers, exposing participants to topics not typically presented to students their age. Tutorial support is provided by undergraduate and graduate students, in addition to the EPGY instructional staff. Most of the residential staff will be involved in instruction so that the academic portion of the program will be fully integrated with the social components of the Summer Institutes. There will be approximately a one-to-eight ratio of residential staff to students in each session, with an overall ratio of one-to-four instructional staff to students.
