(This course covers material previously covered in EPGY M044. The second half of the former M044 course will be covered in M52B Multivariable Integral Calculus.). Differential calculus for functions of two or more variables. Prerequisite: M042 or equivalent. (4 units).

Lectures

The course is divided into lessons, most of which begin with a multimedia lecture.

Exercises and Homework

After each lecture students are given problems to work, some of which are to be written up and handed in. Each week students send their exercises to the instructor to be graded. The instructor keeps detailed student records and identifies special problem areas.

Exams

The course has two "take-home" tests and a final examination, which are mailed to the tutor for grading.
