The EPGY Linear Algebra course covers much of what is generally covered in a first-quarter college honors linear algebra course. The course focuses on theory and rigorous proofs of theorems. The course is designed to take about 12-14 weeks to complete on average.Prerequisite: M042 or equivalent. (5 units)

Exercises and Quizzes

After most lectures, students are asked to try some sample questions about the new material. Once they have some practice, they receive graded online quizzes. Often, students are asked to fill in steps of proofs of the theorems taught in the course.

Each week, students report their exercise and quiz scores to their instructor, who keeps detailed student records and identifies special problem areas.

Homework

Throughout the course there are four homework assignments from the textbook. These assignments are mailed to the instructor to be hand-graded. Students should expect to spend between 5-10 hours per week completing all the online and offline course assignments.

Exams

The course has a "take-home" midterm and final examination, which are sent to the student by the tutor. The course grade is largely based on the final exam grade.
