Academic Talent Search 2005  

       (Mathematics & English Writing)

                    

Who can participate:

  1. Mathematics: students aged between 7 and 16 (birth dates between Jan 31 1988 and Jan 30 1998) and within the top 5% math. score in their grade
  2. English Writing: students aged between 11 and 17 (birth dates between Jan 31 1987 and Jan 30 1994) and within the top 5% English Writing score in their grade
  3. Nomination can be either at the recommendation of the school or the student's parents

Benefits to students, schools and teachers
ˇ@
  1. help students, parents and schools better understand the individual studentˇ¦s abilities in mathematics or English Writing.  Students who score within the top 5% of their grades may feel that they are ˇ§the best learnersˇ¨ within their school community. The Talent Search gives these students a chance to take the Stanford Aptitude Test designed for more senior grade students in order to bring the very best out these top students.
  2. reveal more about their abilities by providing an analysis report on the studentˇ¦s performance. The report is to be generated by Stanford University EPGY.
  3. compare the studentˇ¦s results with other equally highly able students in the same age group in Hong Kong and around the world.
  4. recommend options and opportunities in Stanford University EPGY programs in Hong Kong in mathematics, expository writing, physics or programming during normal school terms or at Stanford University during the summer
  5. reward them with recognition of their outstanding achievements.
  6. teachers from participating schools in the English Writing category shall be invited to attend a workshop in April 05 to be jointly administered by Stanford University EPGY and the ELT of the Chinese University of Hong Kong
